Inter-Island Ferry Route

The Inter-Island Ferry Authority inaugurated passenger/vehicle ferry service between Coffman Cove, Wrangell and Petersburg with the M/V Stikine in 2006. Round-trip service between “Alaska"s Rainforest Islands” operates four days a week, Thursday through Sunday from mid-May through mid-September. The vessel is based in Coffman Cove. The IFA Petersburg terminal is located at South Mitkof, 25 miles by road from Petersburg.
The M/V Stikine is a sister vessel to the IFA"s M/V Prince of Wales that provides daily year-round service between Ketchikan and Hollis. Visitors to Southeast Alaska can make a side trip from Alaska Marine Highway mainline ports to Prince of Wales, Wrangell and Mitkof Islands (Petersburg) for a modest increase in their fare cost. IFA vessels connect to/from Alaska Marine Highway ferries at Ketchikan, Wrangell and Petersburg.
The two IFA ferries are each designed to carry 160 passengers, with a car deck capacity for 30 standard automobiles. The Alaska"s Rainforest Islands route enables greater numbers of travelers to drive Prince of Wales Island without retracing their steps, as an adjunct to an Inside Passage cruise aboard the ships of the Alaska Marine Highway System. For more information call the IFA toll-free at 866-308-4848 or email: ifa@interislandferry.com.
